I've worked in alot of restaurants in my life and I've got to say that every one of those restaurants (some way more then others) has done or is doing something that alot of people would find gross. Business's figure out how to cut costs and people get in a hurry to finish the food they're preparing. Before you know it something "unethical" may have happened to my food. When you consider what some people eat like cows tongue, fried tarantulas, sea urchin's pulsating gonads, the list goes on and on and on. Well pink slime suddenly seems like the lesser of two evils. Ive heard about what supposedly goes into hot dogs, and I stopped eating hot dogs for about a day lol.
So I have to wonder is it because we as Americans are so civilized that we won't or can't eat a cow heart?
How much of an animal is really "unfit" for human consumption? Half? If you really consider how much would be thrown away if all we ate was the meat and only the meat of an animal over half of it would be waste. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't want to know if they ground up the tendons and the other fatty remains of an animal. As long as the FDA and other related organizations are doing their jobs, what you don't know won't kill you. That's good enough for me!
I have a website dedicated to recipes without pink slime http://www.funeasycooking.net/
